Who We Are
THE INITIATIVES is a post era and an agenda setting forum of a league of some cerebral serving and former legislators in the Nigeria House of Representatives, who are passionately committed to Good Governance in Nigeria through the promotion of proactive and people-oriented legislation. THE INITIATIVES is registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC/IT/NO34989) and seeks to achieve a generational shift in the country’s legislative processes and outcome. It is a selfless, non partisan project that aims to achieve Good Governance through Informed, Proactive and Responsive Legislation towards a better Nigeria.
THE INITATIATIVES has since the 6th National Assembly continued to deepen national discourse and consciousness through its public, sensitization and mobilization strategy (PCMS) for national integration, security and economic development. One of the strategies for the realization of these ideal is the National Roundtable sessions. The ideals of the National Roundtable serve to present an effective and informed interface between legislators and the wider public. It draws from the abundance of talents and resource persons outside the legislature and aims to capture and incorporate diverse opinions in legislation as against narrow, selfish considerations.
The Roundtable session now in its 11th edition is an on-going event deliberating on diverse themes of interest to the nation’s growth. The attendance and responses have been overwhelming including some of the best brains that Nigeria can offer as well as civil society groups’ professional bodies and students.
